The Bohemian Chemist was started by Jim Roberts and Brian Adkinson, both partners in business and in life. It all began when Jim’s 90 year old mother Rosemary was ready to stop working in her cannabis garden, but wanted the garden itself to endure. The cannabis patch had provided the main ingredient for Rosemary’s homemade arthritis balm, an effective pain relief remedy that had served her well. So as new managers of the garden, Jim and Brian found themselves wondering how they could do California cannabis a little differently.

Craft Legacy Sun-grown

What has been your biggest challenge and how your team has overcome it?

Being a small batch, second-generation, woman-founded and now LGBTQ+ brand located in the Emerald Triangle, our challenges have been great competing in an emerging market with so many well-resourced players. We are overcoming that by slowing finding our niche as a small craft cultivator focusing in on quality over quantity and educating our audience on the benefits of knowing your farmer and their best practices.

What are some upcoming innovations/projects you are most excited for?

In the fall, we will be launching our Spiritus Mundi line of medicinal flower and cartridges. We are moving back to our roots and concentrating on rare cannabinoids, balanced cannabinoid and terpene profiles, as well as 1:1 ratios in our sun-grown flower. We have been working with breeders and scientists on developing some very interesting cultivars for this new produce line.

Any future predictions/trends you foresee in your product category?

We are continuing to work against the high THC narrative that has taken hold in the marketplace and continue to educate about the complexity of cannabis and the importance of all cannabinoids and terpenes in the flower that we cultivate. We will be pushing for products that will create an entourage effect for our customers.
